Seller trust and provenance
What questions should I ask a refurbished laptop seller before buying?

Before buying any refurbished laptop, ask these questions to assess whether the seller is trustworthy. First, what is the certification process and how many quality checkpoints does the device go through? Second, what exactly does the warranty cover, for how long, and what is explicitly excluded? Third, will I receive a GST-compliant invoice with the device's serial number? Fourth, what is the return window and what triggers a free return versus a restocking fee? Fifth, where did this unit come from (corporate lease return, cancelled order, display unit)? Sixth, has the battery been tested and what is its reported health? Seventh, is COD available? A seller who answers all of these clearly and in writing is a strong signal of legitimacy. Vague or evasive answers to warranty, sourcing or invoice questions are red flags. Edify publishes answers to all of these as a baseline standard.
