Seller trust and provenance
Should I buy from OLX, Instagram or a local shop, or a certified online seller?

For most buyers, a certified online seller is the safer and more reliable choice compared to OLX, Instagram or a local shop. Informal channels can offer lower prices, but they come with significant hidden risks: no systematic quality testing, no written warranty, no GST invoice, and no structured return process if something goes wrong. OLX and Instagram sellers are individuals or small traders, and your recourse after purchase is limited. Local shops vary widely, and very few follow a documented certification process. A certified online seller, by contrast, publishes its quality standards, provides a warranty in writing, issues a GST-compliant invoice, and has a support channel you can reach after the sale. Edify, for example, gives a 12-month warranty and a 14-day return window on all laptops. The price difference between an informal channel and a certified seller is usually small relative to the risk you take on. Prioritise documentation over the cheapest deal.
