Certification, grading and the QC process
What certifications should a genuine refurbished seller have?
Ashwini Purohit
Co-founder & Director, Edify
When buying refurbished in India, the certifications that matter are less about a logo and more about verifiable accountability. Look for: a clearly published, multi-point quality-check process; a written warranty of at least 6 to 12 months; a transparent return policy; a registered company with a GST-compliant invoice; and secure data-wiping. Globally, recyclers cite standards like R2 or ISO 14001 for responsible handling, useful signals, but for a laptop buyer the practical proof is a documented quality check, a real warranty, and a company you can call. Edify is operated by Kuzagan Services Pvt. Ltd., a registered, GST-compliant, venture-backed company; every laptop clears a Final Quality Check across 31 categories and ships with a 12-month warranty. The test for any seller is simple: can they show you their quality process in writing, and will they honour a warranty claim? If not, the "certification" is just a sticker.
