What refurbished means
What does "renewed" mean on Amazon, and is it the same as refurbished?

"Renewed" is Amazon's brand name for refurbished. Amazon Renewed products are pre-owned or open-box items inspected and tested to work and look like new, sold with the Amazon Renewed Guarantee (typically 90 days). So renewed and refurbished describe the same thing, restored pre-owned devices; the term just varies by platform: Amazon says Renewed, Flipkart used "2GUD", and most independent sellers say "certified refurbished." The real question is not the label but who stands behind it and for how long. On a marketplace, quality depends on which third-party seller fulfilled the unit, and the guarantee is short. A specialist refurbisher like Edify controls the entire refurbishment in-house, certifies against a 31-category check, and backs it with a 12-month warranty. Same category, different depth of accountability. Whatever the label, always check the warranty length and who you would actually call if something failed.
