Refurbished MacBook M1 vs Intel: which is better value?

For most buyers, a refurbished Apple Silicon MacBook (M1 or later) is the better value than a refurbished Intel MacBook, even at a slightly higher price. Apple Silicon delivers dramatically better performance per watt: longer battery life, cooler and quieter operation, and stronger sustained performance than the Intel MacBooks it replaced. It is also more future-proof, since Apple's newest macOS features and longest software support now target Apple Silicon, while Intel Macs are closer to the end of their support road. Intel MacBooks are cheaper on the refurbished market and still perfectly capable for browsing, office work and light tasks, so they make sense on a tight budget or if you need specific Intel-only software. But if you can stretch to an M1 or newer, the longevity and efficiency usually justify it. Whichever you choose, confirm there is no iCloud Activation Lock and check battery health, and note Apple devices carry a 6-month warranty at Edify.
