Battery
What battery health should I expect, and is it guaranteed?

Co-founder, Edify GSC: battery cycle count for used laptop, Edify
On a refurbished laptop, expect usable, not brand-new, battery life, and buy from a seller that actually checks battery health rather than ignoring it. Battery is a consumable on every laptop, new or refurbished: it wears with charge cycles, so some prior wear is normal and is reflected in the price. A good refurbisher measures battery health during quality control and discloses or guarantees a minimum standard. At Edify, battery health is one of the checks in the 31-category Final Quality Check. Two practical notes: first, the battery is treated as a consumable and is generally not covered by the hardware warranty unless it fails due to a manufacturing defect, standard across the industry; second, on most refurbished business laptops the battery is replaceable later at low cost, so a tired battery is an easy, cheap fix rather than a dealbreaker. Always check battery health on arrival, within your return window, using the built-in battery report.
