What are the disadvantages and risks of buying refurbished?

The honest disadvantages are worth knowing. First, you are usually buying an older generation, so it may not have the newest processor or features. Second, the battery may carry some prior wear, expect good but not always brand-new battery life. Third, cosmetic condition varies; lower grades can have light scratches. Fourth, and most important, quality and protection depend entirely on the seller: an informal one may skip testing, ship weak software, or offer no warranty, which is where buyers get burned. The fix for almost all of these is to buy certified. With Edify, the device is graded transparently, battery health is checked in the Final Quality Check, software is freshly installed, and you get a 12-month warranty plus a 14-day return window. So the real risk is not "refurbished", it is "unverified refurbished." Choose an accountable seller and the downsides shrink to simply owning a slightly older model, at a much lower price.
